How to Overcome Skin Allergies

An effective approach to managing skin allergies has three components. First, you must understand the condition, then you must find if there is something that triggers your skin's reaction, and third you must protect your skin.

Many people think that allergies only affect the respiratory system or digestion, but they can also affect your largest organs. Like other allergies, the immune system has excessive to the presence of certain substances and releases inflammatory producing chemicals. Research and talk to your doctor. You can be sure that controlling your skin's condition is better if you are sure you understand what causes it.

The second component in managing skin allergies identifies then eliminate allergens and irritation that starts the itchy/scratch cycle. There are more than three thousand triggers known for skin allergies. Many are natural, but there are many who are man -made too.

Common man -made triggers are latex, which comes from the sap of the Brazilian rubber tree. Natural protein and added in the manufacturing process can trigger allergic reactions. Most people are aware that this can cause a reaction if you wear latex gloves. But latex is also present in baby pacifiers, balloons, pencil erasers and elastic bands in underwear. There may also be problems when latex particles become air and inhaled. If you have latex allergies, try to avoid material and use vinyl or plastic if possible.

Nickel is another trigger. In addition to metal objects that contain clear nickel such as coins and jewelry, nickel is also in everyday objects such as scissors, bathroom handles and kitchen cabinets, and zippers. Mascara, eye shadow and eye pencil also contain nickel. Experts estimate that the number of people suffering from nickel allergies has increased by around 40% in the last decade. Most of this is believed to be because of the popularity of the body piercing. Some foods also have natural nickel content and people who suffer from severe symptoms may need to limit their diet under medical supervision. At present there is no way to satisfy someone with nickel allergies. Avoidance is the best strategy.

The third component of effective management is to keep your skin. The easiest thing to do is keep your nails short to reduce damage caused by scratches.

Managing your skin condition means first moisturizes and softening the skin to make sure it does not dry out. Your doctor can recommend you using topical corticosteroid preparation to control inflammation.

When you take a shower soak in warm water for 20 to 30 minutes. Do not take a hot shower or shower, because heat will increase skin dryness and itching. You can add oatmeal or baking soda to the bathtub for a calming effect, although it does not help moisturize the skin.

Use mild soap or non-oath cleanser with a neutral pH (PH7). If you want to add a bath oil to do it after you are in the water so you can close the moisture. Do not use a foam bath because it can form a barrier that stops the bath water moisturizes your skin.

After bathing, dry by patting your skin with a soft towel. This helps maintain moisture. Immediately after drying your skin, apply emolien lotion or cream to help your skin maintain moisture.

To protect your skin, you also need to avoid situations where you will experience extreme physical contact, heavy sweat, or heavy clothing. This might mean avoiding some sports. Swimming is permitted if you rinse chlorine from your skin as soon as you leave the pool, and use a moisturizer after drying yourself.

Follow these three steps and you will be able to control your skin allergy and minimize the impact on your daily life.
